Graduate studies in Psychology at the University of Washington are designed for students interested in a science and research-oriented program. Please read all information carefully before applying to determine whether our program is the right program for you, including a list of frequently asked questions. There is also a frequently asked questions for clinical admissions. You may also find some of the information for current graduate students helpful as you make your decision.

June 15, 2022: We will no longer require the GRE for admissions. We will be updating our materials and processes for 2023 with intent to publish during August 2022. Please check back here then!

August 17, 2022: Applications for 2023-24 Admissions will be available on the Graduate School website in the beginning of September.

September 1, 2022: System is open for applicants to begin and online application.

9:00-10:30am (PDT) Session 1: How to find a lab / how graduate school funding works.

This morning session is designed for students looking to do research in a lab. It’s relevant for ongoing undergraduates, students planning a post-graduation year, and those attending to apply for graduate school this year. It will cover how to find and choose a lab, and how to apply for NIH Diversity Fellowships.

3:00-4:30 (PDT) Session 2: Human Neuroscience @ UW

The afternoon session is focused on human neuroscience at UW. While it’s designed for students thinking of applying to the graduate program, undergraduates at UW interested in finding a research lab should also find it really helpful.

Materials for the 2023 Admissions cycle 

  1. Admissions Application Newsletter: This is a guide to our application process, a required download. It explains each component of our application.
  2. UW Graduate School Application: All applicants to a UW graduate program must complete this online application and submit the application fee. You will be required to upload all of your application into this online process. Deadline: December 1, 2022.
  3. Application Checklist: The checklist is for both U.S. and International Applicants.
  4. Admissions Statistics Brochure: This brochure contains GPA statistics for our past 3 incoming cohorts, along with diversity recruiting information.
