Other Announcements and FAQ (Autumn 2024)
Time slot: If you are a researcher, please double check if you have available time slots for participants to sign up on! If your study info page shows "no time slots available", you will need to add new time slots (you can do this in bulk if needed).
Fully remote studies: For studies that are remote, but participants will be granted credits, you will still need to keep track through the ORPP system (they cannot be granted credits otherwise).
Enrolled courses: In order for students to get extra credit through participation of research studies, they must be enrolled in one of the following psychology courses for Autum 2024:
- PSYCH101A/B/C/E
- PSYCH202A
This is the default setting for this quarter. Students who are not enrolled in one of these classes cannot get extra credit through the ORPP system.
Can students participate even if they are not enrolled? Yes. As long as they have an account, they may still be able to see the study information even if they are not enrolled in one of these classes, and still may particiapte (researcher will need to manually assign them to a timeslot). However, their participation would be a voluntary basis and they cannot receive course credit.
I am a student and how can I get extra credits for my class? Every course may have a different extra credit policy, so please check with your instructor first. 6 research credits will give you a 0.3 GPA boost. For completing a study of 30 minutes, you wil get 0.5 credits. To get a 0.3 GPA boost, you will need to complete 6 hours of research participation. Your class may have a maximum amount of hours/credits you are able to get, so again, check with your advisor.
Students using ORPP for the first time: Please find the "For Student" tab above for a PDF about the research pool. You may also view the tutorial video here.
