• Ted Beauchaine ’s study “Brain abnormality found in boys with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder,” was featured in University Week.  Co-authors include Lisa Gatzke-Kopp, Katherine Shannon, Andrew Fleming. • Michael Beecher is the recipient of the 2009 Davida Teller Distinguished Faculty Award. This is an annual award given by GPAC and the graduate students to a faculty member who shows exemplary mentorship of graduate students in research and in the classroom.

• Nicholas A. • Cheryl Kaiser was selected as the recipient of the 2009 SAGE Young Scholars Award. The award, which was presented at the 2009 meeting of the Society of Personality and Social Psychology, annually recognizes an outstanding young researcher in personality and social psychology.  The award includes a grant from The Foundation for Social and Personality Psychology to be used at Cheryl's discretion for research.

• Jeansok Kim is the sole recipient of the 2009-10 Cattell Sabbatical Award.  The award is given to tenured psychologists in North American universities to supplement the regular sabbatical allowance provided by the recipients’ home institutions.  Jeansok is currently on sabbatical leave for the 2009-2010 year.

Irwin and Barbara Sarason  guest-edited the February 2009 issue of the Journal of Social and Personal Relationships which is devoted to reviews and discussions of topics related to social support.  The issue can be accessed by typing the journal’s name in the title space of the UW Library’s online catalog.

Three faculty members’ lectures on UWTV were ranked in the top ten viewed for 2008.  Tony Greenwald ’s “The Psychology of Blink: Understanding How Our Minds Work Unconsciously - Part 1” was the most popular video on UWTV in 2008, coming ahead of “Bill Gates Unplugged.”  “Psychology of Blink, Part 2” was the seventh most viewed video.  Ana Mari Cauce ’s “Family Values and Culture in the Successful Adjustment of Ethnic Minority Adolescents, Part 1” came in sixth.  Scott Murray ’s “Vision and the Brain,” filmed in 2007, came in tenth for 2008.  These lectures were presented in the “Allen L. Edwards Psychology Lectures: Research Serving Humanity” series.

Geoffrey Boynton , Eliot Brenowtiz , Cheryl Kaiser , Jeansok Kim , Alan Marlatt , Scott Murray , and the Clinical Psychology Program all received mention in the Awards and Honors section of an on-line version of Arts & Sciences Perspectives magazine.
