2025 Edwards Lecture Sponsored Career Panels

Edwards Sponsored Psych PhD Alumni Career Panels - decorative

One question in our annual review of graduate students asks “are there any professional development opportunities you would like the psychology department to offer to students?” One of the overwhelming requests we received was for more information on Psychology PhD Careers. With this information, and many helpful UW Psychology PHD Alumni, we were able to sponsor a series of 4 Alumni Career panels from our Edwards Lecture funds.

  • Academic Careers (teaching); January 29th; moderator Ann Culligan
  • Academic Careers (research); February 5th; moderator Kelly Chang
  • Non-Academic Careers (tech); March 5th; moderator Ariel Rokem
  • Non-Academic Careers (non-tech) gov/nonprofit/private practice/consulting/private sector; April 9th; moderator Shannon Dorsey

Although each panel had a theme, the career trajectory of many of our PHD Alumni went in a myriad of different directions. Through it all, they offered advice, tips, and personal stories of how they landed their current positions.

We’d like to thank the following Psychology Alumni for their time and insights; Linda Zou, Ph.D.’19 (SP), Adam Smiley Ph.D. '22 (SP), Liying Wang Ph.D. '24 (Adult Clinical), Earnest Kim Ph.D. '14 (BNS), Loranzie Rogers Ph.D.’23 (AB), Ella Lombard Ph.D. '24 (SP), Rosemary Meza Ph.D. '21 (Child Clinical), Noah Triplett Ph.D. '24(Child Clinical), Ezgi Irmak Yücel Ph.D. '23 (CP), Terrènce Pope Ph.D. '23 (SP), Ruiyu Zeng Ph.D. '22 (AB), Miranda Johnson PhD ‘21 (CP), Adria Martig Ph.D. ‘10 (BNS), Daniel Byrd Ph.D. '10 (SP) , Valerie Tryon Ph.D. '17 (BNS) , and Lily Durwood Ph.D. '22 (CC)
