Debrielle Jacques Receives $5K grant from UW's Office of Minority Affairs & Diversity's Black Opportunity Fund

Debrielle Jacques received a $5,000 grant from UW’s Office of Minority Affairs & Diversity’s Black Opportunity Fund. The grant will support a community-engaged participatory research project titled “The Role of Youth Advisory Boards and Black Community-Based Cultural Arts Organizations in Reshaping and Advancing Contemporary Psychology”. The project, in collaboration with LANGSTON Seattle, examines a) the predictors and psychological outcomes associated with Black youth’s and parents’ participation in organizational leadership roles, b) how minority-serving community-based organizations view, develop, and can better leverage youth advisory boards to effectively meet community and family mental health needs, and c) organizations’ and Black families’ perceptions of contemporary open science practices (e.g., data sharing, open access publishing, etc.).
