Graduate Student Accomplishments

AWARDS & FELLOWSHIPS 

Clara Johnson received a three-year, $140,256 NRSA Training grant from the NIH National Institute of Mental Health. The award title: Attending to the “Whole” Child in Mental Health Care: Utilizing a Partnership Approach to Address Social Risk Factors Alongside an Evidence-based Psychotherapy. The study goal is to develop strategies to address and mitigate social risk factors alongside evidence-based psychotherapies using decolonizing methodologies. Clara is mentored by Shannon Dorsey. 

Liying Wang won a travel fellowship from the Department of Global Health. The Department of Global Health awarded fifteen international travel fellowships to support the projects and research of graduate students and medical residents at UW for the next academic year. Michele Smith received a two-year, $93,504 NRSA Training grant from the NIH National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism. Michele’s mentor is Kevin King. Award title: Do Experiences of Early Adversity Differentially Contribute to Dynamic Fluctuations in Dysregulated Drinking Through Their Effects on Behavioral and Emotional Dysregulation? The study will use ecological momentary assessment in order to capture daily fluctuations in emotion and behavior dysregulation and drinking behavior.

Noah Triplett & colleagues received the Society for Implementation Research Collaboration award for their presentation "Implementation facilitation to maximize acceptability, feasibility, and usability of mobile phone supervision in Kenya: Results from a pilot study." 

Lauren Smith received a three-year, $140,256 NRSA Training grant from the NIH National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism. Lauren’s mentor is William George. The award title: A Field Study Examining the Effects of Alcohol, Bar Environment & Beliefs on Sexual Misperception, a Precursor to Sexual Aggression. The study aims to provide a comprehensive evaluation of the effects of alcohol and Confluence Model constructs on sexual misperception and directly assess this interaction through an alcohol myopia framework.

Noah Triplett received the 2022 Future Directions Launch Award at the Journal of Cinical Child and Adolescent Psychology Forum.

Noah Triplett, Clara Johnson, Grace Woodard (U Miami), Julie Nguyen, Rashed AlRasheed, Frank Song, Sophia Stoddard, Jules Mugisha, Kristen Sievert and Professor Shannon Dorsey published a paper in Implementation Science Communications about stakeholder engagement to inform evidence-based treatment implementation for children's mental health.
