Short Project Description

The Katz Lab seeks to better understand how families interact with and experience emotions across multiple contexts. One current project focuses on understanding the experiences of families following a diagnosis of pediatric cancer. Students will assist with organization of research materials and data organization and will gain an understanding of family relationships, social and emotional development, and current issues in pediatric psychology. Students will also participate in team meetings focused on building critical skills for careers in psychology, such as reading peer reviewed articles, discussing contemporary issues in psychology, and learning about different approaches to treatment of psychological disorders. This research experience is ideal for students interested in child clinical psychology, pediatric/health psychology, parenting, empathy, and emotional development. In order to maximize the benefits of this experience, interested students should be willing to dedicate 6 hours a week to working in the lab for a period of 3 quarters. If interested, please email Liana Galtieri (lrgalti@uw.edu) with a brief statement and resume.
