Short Project Description

Are you interested in how young infants and children learn about the world around them? The Early Childhood Cognition lab is looking for a motivated undergraduate research assistant to work on a new study investigating the development of persistence and problem solving in infants and toddlers. This is an ideal position for undergraduates interested in attending graduate school, and gaining hands on experience working with infants and young children. The primary responsibilities of the researcher will be participant recruitment and coding of behavioral data, which may include problem solving strategies, emotional expressions, and parental language. The selected research assistant will be an active member of the research team and work closely with the post-doctoral researcher on the project. The research assistant will also have the opportunity to attend weekly lab meetings, and help prepare posters and papers for publication.  Prior experience working with children, coding behavioral data, and using excel or R is preferred though not required.  Before applying, please visit the Early Childhood Cognition Lab website(  to learn more about our lab.

Skills / Experience Preferred

Prior experience coding video data and working with data is preferred. It is also a plus if the applicant has experience working with children and have taken relevant coursework, such as Psych 206 (Developmental Psychology) or Psych 209 (Fundamentals of Psychological Research).
