Short Project Description

The Early Childhood Cognition Lab is looking for a motivated undergraduate research assistant interested in issues related to replication in the field of psychology to get involved with a new, large-scale replicability project: Many Babies. Many Babies is a collaborative project for replication and best practices in developmental psychology research. The goal is to bring labs together to address difficult outstanding theoretical and methodological questions about the nature of early development and how it is studied.   The undergraduate involved in this project will work directly with the postdoctoral researcher leading the project to design and organize the large scale replication project – which will involve planning and coordinating international skype meetings, setting up data repositories, designing Qualtrics surveys, creating stimuli for experimental projects, and potentially running infant participants on a study examining socio-moral evaluation in early development. The chosen research assistant will also have the opportunity to attend weekly lab meetings, and help prepare posters and papers for publication.  The undergraduate involved in this project will also help organize a spring conference, centered around themes of replicability and infant cognitive development, which will be held at the Friday Harbor Laboratories on San Juan Island in the spring and attended by leading researchers at UW and the University of British Columbia.    You can learn more about the Many Babies project at, and the Early Childhood Cognition Lab

Skills / Experience Preferred

Prior experience working with children, coding behavioral data, and using excel or R is preferred though not required. It is also a plus if the applicant has experience working with children and have taken relevant coursework, such as Psych 206 (Developmental Psychology) or Psych 209 (Fundamentals of Psychological Research).
